DOCE PARES PORMA UNO

    • Begin with feet together, facing north. Stick is held vertically in right hand, who’s fist is placed over your heart. Bow with head & shoulders.

    • As you step out with right foot into a ready stance (feet at shoulder width), grasp stick with left hand just above right and draw the stick out through the left grip, stopping before fully removed.

    • Step forward with right foot into a right front stance and circle stick overhead to perform a horizontal strike from right to left (strike #1), following through to left (reverse) chamber. Open hand catches right arm at bicep.

    • Vertical block toward north centered with your body, with left arm reinforcing the block at mid-stick.

    • Bring stick to left ear (open hand centered at solar plexus) and perform a backhand knee strike (strike #8) following through to standard chamber.

    • Circle stick down to block a knee strike, stopping stick in front of you by using open hand to slap against right bicep.

    • Step forward with left foot into a left front stance as you circle the stick back & up your right side to perform an overhead strike (strike #11), halting stick at point of "impact".

    • Slide right foot behind left as you bring stick to left ear. Now pivot 180o and perform backhand knee strike to southern opponent without follow through, leaving open hand palm up in front of left shoulder.

    • Curl right arm up to waist-level chamber, sliding right foot forward (south) slightly. Now step with left foot behind right as you perform a hook thrust to opponent’s head. Stick should end at left shoulder.

    • Step back with left foot into a right cat stance facing south, stick in an umbrella block reinforced by left forearm (stick overhead with hands nearby and stick pointing down length of forearm past elbow.

    • Step down with right foot and forward with left, into a left front stance, as you circle stick down & around on your right side to end with an overhead strike (#11), stopping at point of "impact".

    • Grasp opposite end of stick with left hand and perform an overhead block (stick should be horizontal).

    • Slide right foot behind left and pivot 180o performing a backhand knee strike to northern opponent without follow through, leaving open hand palm up in front of left hip.

    • Step forward with left foot into a left front stance as you circle the stick back & up your right side to perform an overhead strike (strike #11), halting stick at point of "impact".

    • Take a step forward with right foot as you bring stick to left ear. Now step with left foot behind right and snap out a horizontal backhand strike (#2) stopping at point of "impact".

    • Retract strike from where it came (back towards left ear) but circle to stick overhead as you pivot 180o again. Bring stick down diagonally on southern opponent’s left shoulder (strike #3) and immediately circle around into a downward diagonal strike to opponent’s right shoulder (strike #4) ending at right hip.

    • Bring stick back up in front of you to combine with left forearm (palm straight & open) in an X-block just above face.

    • Step out with left foot into a relaxed (shoulder-width) horse stance facing west. Stick and open palm are vertical in front of you in a double block (push block).

    • Slide right foot behind left and pivot 180o to the right using current position of stick to perform a parry as you turn toward eastern opponent.

    • Immediately rotate tip of stick clockwise and perform an upward diagonal strike (lower right to upper left), following through and circling down left side to perform an upward diagonal strike from lower left to upper right. End by allowing stick to extend right arm to the south as you slide your left foot behind your right (torso still facing east), left arm low & out slightly to counterbalance.

    • Noticing an opponent to the south (looking to your right), you pivot left 270o and, squating very low over right leg (left foot should be in front, resting on ball of foot), perform an X-block with stick & left forearm to block kick from the south.

    • Now place your left foot behind your right and pivot 180o to the left while raising right hand (stick pointing vertically down) and swinging arm wide to perform a parry. Follow through so right shoulder is facing northern opponent & stick is near left elbow.

    • Perform a backhand thrust (#10) to northern opponent.

    • With open hand centered at solar plexus, retract stick over left shoulder. Now execute a breakout swinging both free arm & stick in downward arcs. Take this opportunity to step into a relaxed horse stance facing north.

    • Circle stick into a forehand thrust to opponent’s left pectoral (#9).

    • Circle stick once overhead and then in a full circle on your right side, ending by snapping the tip of the stick into the left hand, completing your ready stance.

    • Slide right foot up to left as left hand goes to your side & right fist cover heart, with stick vertical. Bow.
